About Me . 

Makanoa is a Hawaiian name that means “to see freely”. I am Brian Makanoa a content creator based in Logan, Utah. I tell memorable and engaging stories through photography and video. I strive to capture moments with emotion and authenticity.

I have over 10 years of experience in the film industry in many production roles. My experience ranges from major network television sets such as “Lost” and “Hawaii 5-0”, to small independent film productions. I have helped develop and produce short films and commercials for non-profits and retail brands. 

My photography ranges from family and wedding portraits to commercial and brand focused lifestyle visuals. My work has been published in national magazines and featured in award winning documentaries. 

I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Growing up among the steep mountain cliffs that stretch vertically into the sky and the expansive ocean horizons that spread onward into the distance, I developed a strong sense of place and where we stand among our natural world. I seek to capture that feeling of place and our emotional connection to it.
